National Engineering College (NEC), Kovilpatti, India is an autonomous institution started in 1984 which offers engineering studies. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It is one among the various institutions set up by Mr. K. Ramasamy. Not all the courses offered by the college have accreditation by NBA. The institution runs under a trust formed by the chairman K. Ramasamy. The college maintains an individual students record in which academic performance, conduct and attendance are assessed continuously. ==History== National Engineering College was established under the self-financing scheme sanctioned by the Government of Tamil Nadu G.O. No. 939 dated 20 July 1984 by the National Educational and Charitable Trust, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi district. Thiru. K. Ramasamy is the founder chairman of this college. Initially, the college taught courses that led to Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering & Mechanical Engineering . Later the college started offering courses in Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. The college was granted Autonomy status in May 2011. The first Principal and Director of this college was Prof. S. Kannappan. The second Principal was Dr. V. Krishnamurthi.
